What pet owners should know about

Heartworm Disease.

You should be aware of the following facts about heartworm disease:

*Heartworms are transmitted by mosquitoes, not through contact with other dogs or their feces.

*All dogs are at risk, regardless of whether they are considered indoor or outdoor pets.

*Signs of heartworm disease may not be visible until its later stages.

*Our veterinarian's can diagnose a heartworm infection with an easy blood test.

*Treatment for heartworm disease is expensive, lengthy, and traumatic, and its outcome could be unpredictable.

*Cats can get heartworm disease too. Common signs include respiratory stress, gagging or vomiting, lethargy, loss of appetite, and weight loss.
